Vishuddi - the communication & creative chakra

Translation: vi = very deep or extreme, shuddhi = purification, so this chakra is the centre for extreme purification
1 Line Summary: I am creative and communicate honestly, clearly and directly but with a sense of harmony, wisdom and compassion.
Colour: turquoise blue - it feeds the central nervous system to restore peace, and soothes the throat and chest
Location: throat & hyoid bone/thyroid/larynx (controls how your voice is carried), neck, jaw, shoulder girdle, arms.
Represented in the Physical Body by: erector spinae, trapezius, rhomboids, rotator cuff, pectoraliss mjr, latissimus dorsi muscles. If your shoulders slip forwards then you will tend to have outwards communications & you will seek to control life. If shoulder girdle is back then communications are inwardly focussed and weak. When balanced the throat should feel spacious/broad/open. It also correlates to metabolism.
Symbol: 16 petal lotus
Element: space/ether, sound
Sense: hearing - your ear is surrounded by space and sound resonates on the tiny drum and filaments in the ear
Gemstones: aquamarine, turquoise
Purpose: It connects you to a place of higher consciousness so you can tap into your creativity and intuition to find inspiration in life. Works in tandem with Anahata, so if anahata is open then communications occur from the spiritual realm and unconditional love dominates. If anahata is blocked then your spirit is closed and your communications occur from the world of the senses. This chakra balances the ida and pingala subtle energies, for truthful communications with wisdom. Vishuddi controls the operations of the entire systems and permits all elements to function in unison. When balanced you speak with your authentic voice and are totally yourself. Your communications are clear and you bring compassion and kindness to others. You see yourself clearly and let wisdom guide your path in life. Vishuddi is the centre for harmony, and facilitator of communication between your individual spirit and the spirit of the universe. It is the verbal expression of the thoughts and feelings of the lower chakras. it also connects feelings and intuition with thoughts, bringing them into our conciousness so we can act on them, and help form the future. It also involves the sharing of information and ideas.

Analogy: when you speak and express the truth you express your true being and feel harmony, maturity, creativity and inspired. You feel and can embrace the rhythm of life and it is perfectly suited to you!
Emotion/feelings: truth, clear communications, anger
Asana: ujjayi pranayama, uttihita hastasana, ardha uttanasana, table pose, salamba sarvangasana, halasana, karnapidasana, ardha matsyendrasana, ustrasana, bhujangasana
Bandha: jalandara (ie chin/throat)
Questions/Feelings: ae you seen as aggressive or overbearing or withdrawn and quiet? Do you stand up for yourself well? Do you live in a way that is true to your core beliefs and values? Do you feel insipred and creative? Do you feel connected to higher levels of consciousness and spirituality?
