Purpose: links the individual to the physical and natural world, connects with the tribe, derives security, protection, grounding/formation of a solid base/density, and survival of self and species, having material possessions. These all form the stable foundations on which the evolution of self is formed and built upon. The seed of our origins, identity and heritage are all seeds planted here at conception which is why these are all primal and more unconcious responses as they are 'hardwired' into us. It's the base of our person, perception of self, and centre of physical world. Once you have a stable foundation you can tap into the energies of the earth and bring it into your life so you are content with your place in the world, the posessions you have. It also serves as a attention grabber when required and can shock.
Analogy: when you are stable and grounded it's easier to be balanced, strong, secure and stable
Emotion/feelings: Passion is the signature, source of power and decision making, seed of action, but so is anger/aggression, and fear.
Asana: tadasana, virabhadrasana 1/2/3, Uttanasana, Utkatasana, Anjayanasana, Bhujangasana, Salabasana, Janu Sirsasana, Pascimottonasana. Pay attention to your feet, legs, knees, hips, weight into feet
Bandha: mula, note: that energy/prana flows upwards when mula bandha is engaged and you should feel a lightness and stability in your posture
Questions/Feelings: feel out of balance, out of sorts, off centre, out of control, can you make decisions, do you act responsibly/safely, do you feel poor, can you adequately nourish your body, problems with your family ?
